Hallo!

Hallo!

Ja, danke für die Info. Habe es heute auch erfahren müssen.

Gruss

First please forgive the english as my German is very limited. Anyway, in reagards to the APS50 not having an Aux in, please have a look at this link to say otherwise:

I can confirm that on my 2005 W203 C220T CDI has this connector and that there is indeed a AUX button on my APS50 Radio Navigator. I tried going to the Mercedes dealer asking for this cable who in turn told me that there is no AUX function for the APS50, so mistified, I went home and made a temporary makeshift cable to see if this were true. To my amazement, my makeshift cable worked, or in other words I connected my cable to my mp3 and the white adapter found on the passenger side floor, selected AUX on my APS50 and low and behold the beutiful sound of music. My question is, why is Mercedes telling its customers that the APS50 has no AUX function? Also, can anybody tell me what this cable is for:

I ordered the original Aux Cable from Mercedes (costs 20 euros) hoping that it works, so I was wondering why this one cost more? Something about rental cars not having something???? Many Thanks in advance.

There is a difference between the APS50 NGT1 (used in E-Class, CLS and SLK) and the APS50 NGT2 (used in C-class, A-class, ...)
The NGT2 devices do have an AUX, the NGT1 not.

The C-class does not have a radio as a standard item. This cable is necessary when you want to install an Audio 20, APS50 or Comand in your C-class afterwards.
This cable is e.g. used for "Sixt Rental Cars" because these cars do not have an original Mercedes navigationsystem..

@wvdb: Many Thanks for clearing that up. Learned something new today as I didn't know that there 2 different versions of the APS50. So that I understand you correctly, I can go ahead and install the original AUX cable from Mercedes using the procedures describe in the guide without having to worry that somehow it may damage the radio and/or AUX device. I only ask this because I did not know why the Mercedes technician stated the later (perhaps he did not know that there was indeed 2 different types of APS50, even though I did tell him the make/model of the car and radio) as he made me wonder that perhaps by installing the AUX cable and connecting it to an AUX device that this will somehow damage the radio and/or aux device due to a bug/fault in the radio itself.

@rude dog,
sorry for the late answer but I had a little holiday.
Yes, you can go on with the installation as described in the guide.
