Uh, that story of yours sounds like an absolute nightmare.

What buggers me most, though, is not the fact that one or two cars in a few dozen leave the factory with a problem. You cannot change this, and neither can one eliminate such cases as yours, as bad as they be for the person involved. It's the way Mercedes is dealing with it. From what I hear, at least Mercedes in Germany are extra-ordinarily fair.
