(see EEC Certificate Of Conformity under 0.6) It should start with WDB203... Interesting are the next 3 digits. These digets stands for the cassis/engine, e.g. WDB203208 stands for the stationwaggon chassis (T-model) with new 220 CDI generation.

Wich model year is your car?

In addition, If you have a new Diesel engine, does your car have a Diesel Particle Filter?

Best Regards Dirk

Thanks for your reply Dirk. I have a C200 CDI and it's 4 years old. I don't know about the diesel particle filter. I will ask my garage tomorrow.

Greetings,

Frank

Correct RPFs are only available for the OM646 engine shipped since 07/03.

Another question: Does your car produces black smoke on acceleration? If so, it's worth to change the air filter, even if the service interval is not reached. Your OM611 likely to have this problem and a new filter solves it probably.

Dirk

Hi Frank,

you’re driving mainly in the city? What’s the oil consumption of your engine. In my opinion your often driving short ranges?

Thanks Dirk and Otfried for your reactions.

Dirk: According to my garage the air filter was changed 4 weeks ago when my car was serviced. I'm bringing my car back to the garage on monday and I asked them to change the air filter again.

Otfried: I drive about 130 kilometer a day to and from work. Besides that in the evening I often drive short distances within the village where I live, to my parents home for example. Those distances are mostly 1 or 2 kilometers. The oil consumption of my engine seems to be very limited, because in the 4 years that I have this car I only had to fill up oil once (1,5 liter). Of course I don't know what the garage did when my car was serviced.

Greetings,

Frank

That sounds not good. I can imagine what otfried means with the oil, that some obstacles build a new layer on the walls of the catalysator and after some time this layer increases in the thikness.
May the injectors produce this layer too, if they are broken?
Could it be, that all three kind of problems result in this issue?

Thank you for your reaction ElenganceC. So you think the injectors cause the problem with the catalysator? I was supposed to bring my car to the garage on monday for them to take another look at it, but I had so little engine power left this friday that I already brought my car to the garage and asked them for another one. Normally when the engine went in emergency mode, I just had to stop the car and start it up again to have normal engine power again. On friday that didn't work anymore though, I almost didn't have any engine power and the engine stayed in the emergency mode all the time. Even accelerating to 60 km/h was very very slow with almost no engine power. On the freeway I could only reach 100 km/h, so I decided to bring the car to the garage right away. When I accelerated I also heard some noise coming from the engine, so it doesn't sound very good. Hopefully my garage can solve the problems this time, but I'm afraid they won't, so any tips are very welcome.

Greetings,

Frank

Our 220 CDI has another problem, after 180 km/h on the Autobahn everything behind the car gets a blue touch, so the engine smokes a lot, it should be a kind of valve, which is not right controlled, so in the last quarter of engine speed it should open 100% and now it doesn`t and the engine does not get enough air.

I only can guess what it could be, Otfried do you know more about these points? Im not the real engine specialist you know but these are the points which I think it could be.

I want to let you know that my garage finally repaired my car. It turned out that my second catalysator filled up every time, because my first catalysator was broken. The inside (monolith) of the first catalysator had crumbled and filled up the second catalysator. Changing the second catalysator didn't help because of that. I want to thank Dirk, Otfried, Peter and EleganceC for trying to help me and I'm just hoping I won't have any problems from now on.

Greetings,

Frank
