Don't rush to order that Rolls-Royce Corniche just yet - Maybach has plans to produce a cabriolet version of its luxury saloon if the hard-top model proves a success with the world's rich and famous.
According to insiders, the car will have a folding metal roof similar to that of the new Mercedes SL roadsters and will seat four in ultra-comfortable surroundings, just like the company's last convertible from the Thirties. Meanwhile, orders for the Maybach 57 and 62 saloons are flooding in, including one from a Saudi prince who's reported to have put his name down for a fleet of 35 - at a total cost of £7million. Four passengers on the QE2 - which took the car to New York for its world premiere - have also placed orders after seeing the Maybach for the first time on board.
